HG GRIMME SysTech GmbH can report a surprising success with the 5-axis model building milling machine G-S-F/MK, which was further developed last year. The machine stands as a symbol for realized progress and "refinement" of a product, furthermore it underlines the company philosophy according to the motto "TECHNOLOGY is our passion - we find innovative and customized solutions".
When users from a wide range of industries, such as automotive suppliers, the aerospace industry, yacht building and the sanitary industry, virtually burst into hymns of praise for safety and work results, the manufacturer must have succeeded in doing something special.
For HG GRIMME SysTech from Wiedergeltingen, the further developed 5-axis model building milling machine G-S-F/MK is such a surprise success. The sophisticated machine system of the model building machine in compact design (MK) is used for perfect machining of materials such as aluminum, plastics or composites. Thanks to its mono design, the machine is also easy to transport and commission.
Innovative and creative: In numerous "how-to-do-it" meetings, Managing Director Wolfgang Grimme and his design and assembly team focused on improvements in practical application as well as upgrading with more options. One of them: larger machine dimensions lead to an extension of the 2D machining dimension by 600 mm to 2,900 x 1,800 x 960 mm and the 3D cube dimension to 2,100 x 1,000 x 800 mm.
Optimizations have also been made in the technical equipment. The compact 5-axis fork head enables high-precision, spatial machining. Together with the water-cooled and backlash-free "Galaxie ®" drive, even more precise milling cycles are thus realized, as well as shorter cycle times due to higher acceleration values. The drive package has been optimized to 60 m/min rapid traverse and 4.0 m/s2 acceleration. In addition, optimized dynamics were achieved through weight savings in the fork head.
A swiveling display with a high-resolution graphic screen controls the system via CNC Siemens-Sinumerik-840D/SL and makes it compatible with all CAD/CAM programs. A portable HT8 operating handheld device is added for program run-in.
For perfect milling results in cut and shape, HG GRIMME makes no compromises. With the tool measurement, the cutters are checked for correct tool length and breakage control. For possible incorrect program entries, coding plugs are implemented in the shuttle table, which confirm the recognition of the milling fixture and the correct program or control the valves of the milling fixture. These options offer the operator enormous user safety and protect the company from unnecessary downtime costs.
Everything has been thought of in the new model-making machine. Would you like an example? During pneumatic clamping, the clamping of the milling fixture is activated via vacuum manifolds or vacuum. A programmed query in the various machining zones makes it easy to ensure that the fixture is correctly positioned.
Newly developed and equipped with easy access and maximum flexibility is the massive T-slot table with a grid of 200 mm. Furthermore, customers can choose between one or two tool change drawers (12 or 24 tool holders) of type HSK-F63.
"We also want to enable dust-free, protected working. For this reason, a translucent folding sliding roof was integrated into the otherwise closed machine system," explains Philipp Grimme Jr. The installation of bellows systems in all linear axes has also immensely reduced the sensitivity to dirt. In addition, closed cable chains now also ensure greater protection of the cable carriers.
Summing up all the new features and innovations, the G-S-F/MK is without a doubt an absolute marvel that sets the benchmark in its class.
