Ultrasonically Resonant Cutting Blades
for Your CNC Milling Machine | HG GRIMME SysTech
The ultrasonically resonant cutting blade can be integrated into an existing CNC milling machine. The blade geometry is specifically adapted to the material being processed. Different blade lengths are available, up to 77 mm. The monoblock cutting blade is made of solid carbide. Compared to conventional blade cutting, ultrasonic cutting is significantly more efficient. Materials can be processed with higher feed rates and outstanding precision, while keeping tool wear to an absolute minimum. There is no milling waste, and the material edges remain razor-sharp, without any unwanted fraying or damage – issues often seen with laser cutting.
The high amplitudes at the blade tip enable a cutting accuracy of up to 40 µm, resulting in a clean and precise separation of the material.

The Ultrasonic Cutting Head
The electrical signal from the generator is transformed into mechanical oscillations by the converter, which is integrated into the cutting head.
Directly above the blade is the sonotrode—also called the coupler or booster.
It amplifies the mechanical oscillations from the converter and forms a resonant unit with the blade.
The solid carbide cutting blade then transmits these ultrasonic vibrations into the workpiece.
The existing milling spindle is used as the sixth axis, which is required for 3D machining during blade cutting.

One Generator for All Frequencies
Our unique One4All concept enables the operation of cutting systems with all frequencies using a single generator.
The generator produces high-frequency voltage needed for ultrasonically resonant blade cutting.
It is equipped as standard with a network port, which allows remote maintenance from any laptop. It also supports data evaluation via the Binary Unit System (bus-driven control).
In addition, various analog and digital I/O ports are included as standard for evaluating target and actual values, and for connecting to the machine-side PLC (programmable logic controller).
Operation is made easy by a full-color OLED display, which clearly presents all relevant system information.
State-of-the-Art Interfaces
The generator comes with various built-in interfaces—no additional modules are required.
The desired bus interface can be easily activated using the GenConfig tool on a laptop.
In addition to modern Ethernet-based protocols, the generator can be expanded with modules to support classic industrial interfaces.
Seamless Quality Monitoring – Anytime, Anywhere
An optional 64 GB memory can be installed in the generator.
It records measurement and error data, which can later be retrieved and visualized using the GenConfig tool..
