The design with two or more axis groups offers many benefits when it comes to processing workpieces. First of all, the workpiece can be processed from several different sides simultaneously. Second, different tools can be used at the same time. This method greatly reduces the cycle times.

Different table versions are also possible. In the case of a CNC machine with two tables, two workpieces can be processed differently at the same time. The additional benefit of having two tables is that the tables can be linked together to create one large table for large components.

It is also possible to process several workpieces with a CNC machine that has one table. Depending on the size of the table, two or more components can be processed on one table, with a milling cutter holder mounted on the table in each case.

Selecting the high-speed milling spindle

When it comes to selecting the high-speed milling spindle, there are different benefits depending on the type of spindle. If an axis group is equipped with a double-shaft spindle, the tool changing time can be very greatly reduced. The second tool is deployed within a very short space of time by rotating the spindle onto the second shaft end. Two different tools can be used for each double-shaft spindle.

In the case of an HSC spindle with one tool, the tool changer that moves at the same time provides 12 tools for each milling spindle.

The workpiece clamping fixture can also be equipped with other axis groups, such as drilling units.

In our factory in Wiedergeltingen in southern Germany and our dedicated design department, we specialise in constructing CNC milling centres and other CNC machines. We construct all types of CNC machines with several axis groups. These include CNC milling machines and CNC cutting machines.

The combination of axis groups operating simultaneously enables the CNC machining centre to quickly mill or cut complex shapes from a single workpiece. The workpiece is processed three-dimensionally at high speed. The movements of the axes are coordinated by the CNC control system. This ensures that repeatable results are produced on the workpiece with absolute precision.

Flexibility in CNC machining: efficient CNC machining of large components with linked machine tables and different table versions

Depending on the customer’s requirement and component, several axis groups can either work on one large component or work simultaneously on two different workpieces. The machine tables on tandem machines can be linked together for synchronous machining on one component, thus creating one working table for large-sized components. If the intention is for each axis group to work on one component on its own, the working tables can be separated and fitted differently.

Thanks to our modules, the CNC machining centre can operate with lots of different table versions. If the CNC machine has two tables, they are equipped with a divider panel which shuts automatically. Alternatively, shuttle tables can also be constructed. With shuttle tables, the components are loaded outside the cabin. This means that the machine operator can fit different workpieces outside the CNC machine alternately and without any risk.

An optional conveyor belt in the cabin conveys the chips out of the machine into a collecting container. The conveyor belt shortens the cleaning times for the operator and therefore significantly boosts the great efficiency and productivity of the machine. The chutes in the machine ensure that the chips slide down and are collected in optimum fashion.
