CNC milling machines in the plumbing industry
The plumbing industry manufactures millions of shower trays, bathtubs, washbasins and whirlpool baths every year. The primary materials used for this are plastics and composite materials, such as fibreglass-reinforced acrylic or mineral plastics such as Corian® – a mineral-organic composite material. These materials give the plumbing industry great design flexibility and the freedom to create an individual product design. As well as Corian®, there are of course lots of other composite materials such as Duralmond, Quaryl or Sanitary acrylic. They all offer different benefits, but all have one thing in common: The vacuum deep-drawing process or mould casting is used to turn them into sanitary products. The sanitary products are then finished off using CNC milling technology.
CNC machining centres with clamping fixtures for large components
Sanitary products in particular, for example free-standing bathtubs, frequently have individual parts with large dimensions. Bathtubs often also include corresponding panels which need to be machined and milled as well. The varying component dimensions present a real challenge and need to be considered when designing a CNC machine for use in the plumbing sector. Another consideration is that it is also frequently necessary to switch from machining a bathtub to a shower tray. It should therefore be possible to change the workpiece quickly and easily in the CNC machining centre.
Safe milling thanks to extraction
It is not just the sizes of the workpieces and the need for frequent changeovers that present specific requirements in the plumbing industry. There are lots of other factors that need to be considered when milling plastics and composite materials. These are exactly the materials that we focus on: This is why we have developed safe extraction technologies so that for example the operator and all the machine components are protected from abrasive fine dust. This extraction system also protects the hall from fine dust and remnants.
We develop our customised, long-lasting and low-maintenance CNC machining centres by working together closely with our customers. The enduring relationships we have with our customers demonstrate how satisfied they are. Whatever materials or requirements you may have: We will support you in partnership and are also very happy to develop very specific solutions for you.
